the versatile smoky eye

Earlier this year, smoky eyes were all the rage thanks to makeup artist Peter Thomas Roth. The eyeshadow has a charcoal hue that creates a natural appearance of smudging and darkness around the eyes. For a more dramatic effect, place black eyeliner along the lash line and use a dark brown or black eyeshadow to fill in the creases. For an easy, everyday look, sweep a light brown eyeshadow on top of the black liner and use a brush to blend it out.
